A native of Saint Paul, Minnesota, I was attracted to foreign language learning as a way to expand my cultural horizons. While completing my Bachelor of Arts, I studied Spanish, Math, and numerous electives in Sports Science, earning honors as a collegiate athlete in soccer and track & field. During my final undergraduate years, I studied abroad in Segovia, Spain, where I met my husband, Elías, now a local mountain guide.
Before becoming a licensed massage therapist, I earned a Master’s degree in the field of Education and spent over 15 years teaching, coordinating and leading international travel programs, translating, coaching, and working in the outdoor recreation and hospitality industries. I have engaged in extensive international travel in pursuit of mountaineering objectives, social service opportunities, and immersion experiences.
After struggling to find adequate healthcare as a beat-up female athlete living in a rural mountain town, I became interested in bodywork out of the necessity to address my own physical needs in sustainable, non-invasive, non-toxic ways. In addition to the Western-Eastern bicultural massage program I attended in Seattle, WA, I am also trained in the practice of YogAlign, Reiki, Ashiatsu barefoot massage, Visceral Manipulation, Neural Manipulation, and Craniosacral techniques.
All work that I perform is very fluid and intended to reduce any anxiety to the greatest degree possible. Your unique session may blend any number of healing modalities, including Swedish style massage, myofascial release, Thai massage, deep tissue work, reflexology… But no need to anguish over choosing the right technique; I am eager to educate my clients about their bodies and treatment options, customizing each session to achieve optimal results.
